Broken

A song incorporated into the film 'Passions'
A song to reflect on why we are thankful this season. It is undeniably because of the sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour. Without Him we can do nothing. I can't imagine the many years Mary had to live after the death of her Son, while John was asked to look after her. She may have been a widow, so thus, Christ from the cross told John, 'behold your mother'.
It is a painful thing to be a mom. We may outlive our children, we may loose children as babies, or adult children who we had nurtured for many years. We often suffer the loss of dreams that we had for our children. We loose control, and feel that we are suffocating at times. Then loneliness settles in. No one can relate to us, or no one can feel our pain. Years of hardship may prevail, years of struggle, and a void that only an empty embrace can attest. The longing never leaves, the nights are long and deprived of air. The notion that we miss our loved ones is an understatement. Nothing is beautiful, tranquil, or at peace. Daily, the pain stabbs us fresh and anew.
Even more painful is when those you love cut you through and through, sometimes because they too hurt, and other times when they want to fight back. The fighting is of course not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers in dark places.
