Miracle on the Bridge

Deborah's body was found the early afternoon the day after she took her life. All the fishing boats were out on the Fraser River that day, and the boats would have searched for her, had it been necessary. Fishing season had begun on the Fraser.  But God, washed her to the shore, and a walker by, reported her found. Without going into much detail, we later found out that her being found and identified withing a 24 hour period is truly incredible, and miraculous. Some families are still looking for the bodies of their loved one years after the incident. Apparently, all the feet that have no body parts that were found in the Fraser River, were all due to suicides. There is now DNA evidence of this fact.

When we all showed up at the police department the second morning to retrieve her belongings, shocked the police officer and victim's services representative. In great disbelief and pain, we brought home her belly button piercing, her running shoes, her black graduation hoody, and a note she left in her shoes. The note said, "The Gordon family, I'm very sorry, but  I had to do this". Our phone number was on the back of the tissue. To this day, we thank the man who reported her items found, on the bridge, as well as the walker who found her on the riverside. Though we have not met them personally, we pray God blesses them for their involvement.
Deborah was intact in every way. Her tattoo, saying "faith", her blond hair, and other indicators, enabled the authorities including the fireman to identify her. My daughters, were at the site when the fire trucks arrived, but they would not let them go near her body.  She was in perfect condition, the coroner later reported. She most likely was unconscious prior to hitting the water. Jesus caught her at the moment her feet touched the water, is how Lanny describes it in her poem.

Prior to the funeral, as young folks had set up a memorial for her by the river, my family went there as well except for me. I still have not gone to that place yet.
Gazing up unto the bridge Deborah's sisters, father and 2 men, witnessed some presence on the bridge. It was close to sunset, the approximate time Deborah had jumped; around nine. They all gazed up, and saw four angels, almost resembling people, but larger.  At first, the girls stared up thinking there are other  persons wanting to take their lives, (which by the way is a regular occurrence).  These angelic beings had no wings, but white hoods on their heads, covering their faces, with arms folded looking down unto the waters. They were positioned between the arches, with the lights shining near by. These comforting ambassadors of God did not leave their position for forty five minutes. They simply gazed with their hoody's down towards the water.
