The Venue and the Wedding Dress

The wedding of my second daughter is taking place in early June. After weeks of looking at places from Parks, such as by Whannock Lake in Maple Ridge, to elaborate golf courses, to cultural centres, the young couple finally found one that was affordable and desireable. A recently rennovated ethnic cutural hall in New Westminister is their choice for the venue. Many places are booked 18 months in advance, and most of the Saturdays were completely booked. This made it a journey filled with suspense to find both venue and church dates complimentary. There is plenty of parking at their hall, hard wood floors for dancing, and space enough for 250 people, incase their guest list goes up by leaps and bounds. The tables, chairs, and white linnen table cloths, are all provided. It will be a sit down dinner with at least four entrees, and pizza served at 11:30 at night. The catering is provided on site with European chef's and we can bring in our own spirits (alcohol) and our own dessert such as cakes. This considerably saves on the pocket books that they allocated for their wedding. A trip to Alberta is not entirely out of the scope, as liquor is apparently much less expensive there. We were extremely pleased that the church could rebook this new date, and the building is avaiable in early June. It will be a thirty minute ride from the church to the hall. Hopefully, pictures can be taken at Crescent Beach/White Rock after the ceremony, and off we go to the banquet hall. The church can seat 800 people, and has a lovely balcony as well. There are seperate rooms for the bridegroom and the bridesmaids to arrive to, and put on the final touches. The back entrance to the building will keep the bride in sweet seclusion from being viewed until the big moment.
Today, besides cleaning the house all day, I was listening to some of the bridal entrance music. I am open to suggestion from my readers about this, as we will have to fill some time with music while everyone is filling the church. I sure hope that the young couples friends from their school years, and young adult years will all be able to attend. It is not very often that highschool sweethearts tie the knot in my opinion.
Their courtship at one point stagnated, but now it is in full bloom and everything is happening so very fast.
Today the bride to be is picking up a hand made box, a "wishing well" for her guest,
The theme colours will be white, gold and pink. I feel pretty run down. Oh, and of course the dress. I can't tell you anything about it. It is not what I expected and it may not be what you expect either. We were just very thankful that it happened quickly, after just trying on maybe 7 dresses. We went back to the first store, and the smile on her face lit up the room. She found her dress. It will be on storage till just a few days before the wedding, then they will steam it, and make one tiny alteration to it. She will have to maintain her weight if she does not want it to fall off her curves. That means no going to the gym except for strenghtening exercises. Most of us on the other hand are battling loosing some weight, which will not be easy. The flowers in the picture are from my garden, a few summers ago. We look forward to our next summer, and pray for God's will to be done.

  1. Just wonderful reading about the Wedding Plans. Do you have an actual date booked yet. My niece is graduating at UVic the first week of June. I'm hoping that it's not on the same day.
