Mercy Ministries

About the Program

A Multi-Dimensional Approach for Spirit, Soul and Body

Our residential program is voluntary, Christ-centered, and completely free of charge to young women ages 19 to 28 who are facing life-controlling issues including addictions, self-harm, depression, physical and sexual abuse, unplanned pregnancies, and eating disorders. The average stay is six to nine months and is designed to address the whole person – spirit, soul, and body.
Our program uses proven methods and features biblically based counseling and teaching alongside life-skills training and educational opportunities. We teach God’s unconditional love, forgiveness, and life-transforming power! Because of our approach to healing, residents gain the tools and perspective necessary to stop destructive cycles and discover purpose for their lives.
The program includes residential care, individual and group counselling, nutritional education, fitness training, educational preparation, biblical teaching, and transitional planning.
The Mercy Canada program is accredited by CARF international, an international, independent, non-profit focused on improving the quality of human services.

Counselling

Mercy Multiplied  International formalized its Christian-based counselling curriculum in June 2008. This curriculum is now used in all Mercy homes throughout the world. It is called “Choices That Bring Change” and helps young women work through a counselling process that explores issues of faith, forgiveness, family, overcoming abuse and past hurts, and general life principles.
In addition to individual counseling, residents also participate in group counseling on a weekly basis. This counselling curriculum is the result of Mercy Multiplied’s nearly three decades of working with young women in crisis and combines biblical principles of healing and unconditional love with best-practice clinical interventions.
As a Christian organization, Mercy Canada believes that prayer plays an important role in healing and spiritual growth. Mercy Canada does not perform or endorse exorcisms as part of its treatment curriculum. Our emphasis is on the power of God’s grace and unconditional love to help hurting young women overcome addictions and past hurts. View our statement of faith.

Transitional Care

Mercy Canada’s program includes transitional care to prepare each young woman for success in society after spending time at Mercy Canada. Our transitional care includes extensive life-skills training as well as assistance as needed with finding housing, transportation, job preparation and school application. Mercy Graduates have up to one year of formal support from transitional care staff after they leave the program.

Pregnancy Care

Mercy Canada helps young women who are facing unexpected pregnancies. While at Mercy, a young woman would complete a basic decision making program.  Birth-mothers who choose adoption are encouraged to stay an additional six weeks for post placement counseling. Parenting classes are also made available for the young women who decide to parent their child. These classes give the mothers practical training and guidance in numerous areas of child development.
