A
46-year-old Roseville man died today when he was struck by a vehicle in
what Michigan State Police believe was an apparent suicide on eastbound
I-94 near I-696 in Roseville.
The crash closed the interstate in Macomb County for nearly four hours during morning rush hour.
Michigan
State Police First Lt. Ken Dilg said that about 6 a.m. it received a
call about a man on eastbound I-94, between I-696 and 12 Mile, darting
out into traffic.
Before troopers could arrive, the man stepped in front of a vehicle and was struck and killed, Dilg said.

He
said police have been unable to identify family members of the victim,
whose name will be released pending notification of next-of-kin.
Dilg said it appears to be a suicide from all witness statements and evidence gathered at the scene.
He
said the 21-year-old Novi woman, who struck the man with a a 2015 Jeep
Wrangler, stopped at the scene, was cooperative with troopers and was
distraught about hitting him. Dilg did not name the woman because she is
not charged and the accident remains under investigation.
There
are no charges expected to be filed, Dilg said, but police will consult
with the prosecutor's office to make the final determination.
He
ran from the westbound lanes of I-94, climbed over the median wall and
ran into oncoming eastbound traffic before being struck, according to
the release.
He was taken to St. John's Hospital
and Medical Center in Detroit, where he was pronounced dead shorty after
6 a.m. The driver of the Jeep was not injured, according to the
release.
