Payal Tadvi suicide case: 3 accused sent to judicial custody till June 21

The three accused in the suicide case of Dr Payal Tadvi, a medical student in Mumbai belonging to a scheduled tribe, are currently lodged in Byculla jail in Mumbai.

All three accused in the suicide case of medical student Dr Payal Tadvi have been sent to judicial custody till June 21.
The three accused doctors, Bhakti Mehere, Hema Ahuja and Ankita Khandelwal are currently lodged in Byculla jail. They were booked under provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for abetting suicide, under SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, Anti Ragging Act and Information Technology Act, 2000.
Dr Payal Tadvi, who belonged to the scheduled tribes, allegedly committed suicide on May 22 in the hostel of the BYL Nair Hospital. She was a second year student of TN Topiwala National Medical College, which is attached to the BYL Nair Hospital.
The suicide case has taken the entire country by shock
Tadvi's parents had alleged that she was harassed by the three accused, who taunted her for belonging to the dalit community.
The accused in Payal Tadvi's suicide case earlier in their bail plea said that they didn't know the victim's caste and had only professional interaction with her.
A possible case of murder is also being probed as Advocate Nitin Satpute, who is appearing for Dr Payal Tadvi's family, said that there were injury marks found on Payal Tadvi's body and private parts, which could indicate struggle before death.
