Jagmeet Singh thinks Trump is Dangerous but not Fidel Castro

Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh today tweeted out a statement to Americans urging them to “VOTE HIM OUT” referring to US President Donald Trump.

Singh is technically right if we ignore all the political executions, famines, poverty, communist indoctrination in schools, and the inability for Cubans to leave Cuba.

Trump at his worst is just blustering, and arrogant, but Castro, who as a reminder, literally murdered thousands of his own people and kept Cubans, in what is still today, basically a large island prison, is not comparable in any way to Trump, let alone better.

Singh pushes false narratives about Trump on family separations at the border, COVID-19 being his fault, as well as the vague notion that Trump has personally increased hatred in America.

Singh fails to remember that it was the Obama administration that started the policy of family separation and were the photos of children in cages originally came from. By Singh’s own logic, blaming Trump for every COVID death in the US would make Singh partly responsible for every Canadian COVID death since he is holding up Trudeau’s Liberal minority government no questions asked.

Well facts and logic never seem to get in the way of Singh’s radical political rhetoric.

Donald Trump is apparently too much for Singh and makes America “a dangerous place” yet Singh seems to have a very warm spot in his heart for the brutal former communist dictator of Cuba, Fidel Castro, who he says “uplifted the lives of millions.”

This contrast between Singh’s view of Trump and his view of Castro is a microcosm of why the NDP is failing as a party. It’s leader is ideologically blinded to the effects of policy in pursuit of following his rigid socialistic narrative about how things should be. Even as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is engaged in overt corrupt behaviour Singh can be easily paid off by the Liberals pushing some NDP-style progressive policies.

Singh can overlook the crimes of Castro in celebration of socialistic policy, but despite all the good Trump has objectively done for the American people Singh can’t see anything positive as it isn’t in line with his orthodox socialistic narrative.
