After the service, we went out for a charbroiled hamburger. I did not feel like cooking again, or cleaning up after the meal. I introduced her to poutine, which is french fries, mozzarella cheese and gravy in a single bow. She was not impressed but enjoyed a few bites.
Turning on the news, I see that a fire has also started 30 km from Kelowna. Entire cities have been evacuated from Williams Lake to Quenel. Over 35 thousand people have fled the wildfires of British Columbia. I told my friends that I have to buy a rubber boat from Cosco incase the fire comes this way. She lives in Kelowna and they are far from the fire, but the smoke has caused them to close all their windows last week.
I told her about my compliment to a lady who did not have her hijab on in the park, amidst so many that did. In a manner of 5 minutes, the entire group of 9 ladies tracked me and my student down in the park, and wanted to know why I would say such a thing, and how racist I was. I mentioned to the other Muslim lady that I liked her make-up and appreciate Canada for it's freedom of speech. Trust me, except for the lady who I complimented for her visible hair, (no Hijab), they had blood in their eyes. Canada no longer has free speech. If I told them that 'Do you know that July 1st is International Burn the Hijab day?" I can see that as being offensive.. However, I threw a compliment out to one lady, but they did not like it one bit, implying that I was affiliating their hijab with a religion and some. They want bondage to Islam.. My friend said I should have asked, "What are you hiding under there?' with the sweetest of voice.. If I did, may be their male counterpart relatives would have already worked me up..
