Today, I witnessed a hit and run on my street. A familiar black Honda ripped through my street, after hitting a parked car as another car was pulling out of their driveway. It did a lot of damage to the parked car close to the curve of the crescent; it had a new drivers license sticker. I hope the police catch the offender. Lately, I've noticed this very same vehicle, and thought I'd better request some speed bumps on our street. I just tried to get through to city hall about it this morning, but was unsuccessful. Isn't it obvious for people to stop and report the accident if they hit a vehicle? Did they not learn that step, when they wrote their drivers test? I am disappointed with many drivers in our community. As more and more young families live in their parent's home nowadays, it is dangerous to speed in established neighborhoods.
We believe that this vehicle is one that resides in this neighborhood, but now may not be coming around. Once caught, he will face heavy fines. Imagine if he had called a child playing on the street? Life seems less precious, people are rushed, careless.
We are still waiting for the plumber to put new pipes down in our yard. We are experiencing fatigue from partial use of our water. The family wants it turned on by 6 am, and kept on in the afternoon to evening hours. The sump pump can only do so much, and sadly the trench is not drying out. I suppose, we have to be patient, and wait, unless I want a hefty plumbing bill. Also, we have to water the garden, shrubs, and trees, as we have had hardly any rain for several months. This too adds to the conundrum.
I am taking a rest from work this week, in the sense that I passed on the responsibility of the driving of my Japanese student to my husband. I will only do homework with her. I really need a break. I too must slow down, like the drivers on our road, or face the consequences.
