Well the last few days, have been a bit of a zoo trying to get everything ready for the Japanese student's arrival. I did the bedding, floors, purchase of food. In the midst of it all, I am still drying wool carpets on wooden horses. The weather has not been hot enough to dry fully, and I don't want to risk ruining my hardwood floors by putting it back semi wet.
Yesterday, I almost had a heart attack, well let me back track. The day before yesterday, I called the privatized garbage removal people to wash the street, since in at least 4 places the liquid sewage dripped all out of their trucks and left black markings on the road. In the past, a phone call to the city had the mess taken care of. Not this time. They wanted to send a manager to inspect the spill, then upon further conversation with their office they were saying that we have to wait till the next rainfall (in Sept/October) to wash it away since it is organic material.. yeah, right! So 10 minutes before I was to drive downtown for my dentists appointment, I called the city boss, who hired these bozo's, because to our surprise and great delight, we found a sticker on our recycling blue bin of 1.5 meters tall saying it does not accept plastic paper and wrappers!!! I feel this was an act of retaliation from the private company. They labelled my blue box on purpose, because I had made the request to have their spillage washed! I was very upset. My husband, the lay-back person that he is, was not going to do anything, since the sticker was a notice only, and 'did not mean they were going to leave my trash here'.. Considering I have a tenant, and student here now, the last thing I needed was to haul the large bin of plastics to the waste depot 15 km from here. Sometimes, I feel I have to solve all the problems, which makes me come across as quiet unpleasant ruly individual. Truly, I would love to be the docile, quiet and meek spirited individual the bible speaks about, but for this crazy world, you need a Deborah like prophetess who I named my Daughter after. So upon rushing to get my point across to the city hall boss, they have agreed to wash the street, and provide my tenant with a seperate container. We have been impressed not to put the plastics in a plastic bag (which my tenant does) because it is difficult for them to sort at the end of the production line.
I have also been visiting the grave site. The flowers wither quickly in the sunshine. The over 200 forest fires still rage, so the skies are getting yucky, even in Surrey, BC. Soon we will need to keep our windows closed, I would imagine. God help the firefighters, and first responders, evacuees and wildlife. Truly, the Great Tribulation is starting soon. Our only escape is in Jesus.
