Many Things Going On

Well, there has been so many things going on lately. An apartment fire in Port Moody, that left close to a hundred people displaced. This co-op has been the residence of long time families, with pets and all. My tenants mom sadly lost all of her belongings, one cat, and two severely traumatized by smoke. Remarkably, the one blind cat survived. The firemen shut off the water twice in order to rescue her. Now, her temporary shelter  is in my suite. The three story apartment is not salvageable. Everyone will have to look for new accommodations. Everyone is traumatized, and were sent shopping with a voucher to Wal-Mart. Prescription drugs were obtained on an emergency basis. I don't know if you have ever had to leave your home due to fire, but I did. We lived in a hotel with four children for about 8 weeks before our home was repaired. This is a high stress event for sure.

I heard also on the news that the government is putting 3 million dollars towards mental health suicide prevention in Canada. The rate of suicide has jumped to 3,500 people per year in Canada, and the news is full of inquiries, and people in despair. One 19 year old's mom who took her life a year ago off the Lion's Gate Bridge is seeking answers as her daughter was in the care of the ministry just 20 days prior. However, since she was past her 19th birthday, by 20 days, and considered an adult,  there will be no inquiry made by the government.

We are also going to get the residue of a hurricane in the Pacific Northwest, this weekend. I have never heard of a hurricane here before. Here is a little excerpt from the weather man. the names of these hurricanes are very unusual.
