WITH ANOTHER WATCH DATE UPON US (October 23rd-24th/Day of Atonement), I wanted to take a moment to highlight what is, in my view, the number one reason to be paying extra-close attention to the fall feasts this year—Daniel’s seven-sevens prophecy:
“From the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until
Messiah the Prince there will be seven sevens” (Dan. 9:25 NASB).
Here’s what every believer needs to understand—and really let sink in—about this prophetic verse:
The “seven sevens,” in Hebrew-calendar speak, denote a jubilee cycle (Lev. 25:8-10).
Isaac Newton acknowledges this in his commentary on verse 25:
“The seven weeks [of Daniel] are the compass of a jubilee, and begin and end with actions proper for a Jubilee, and of the highest nature for which a Jubilee can be kept.” *
And so, the bottom line—stated clearly by Daniel and acknowledged by Newton—is that from the issuing of a “decree” recognizing Jerusalem’s restoration to the Jews, there will be ONE JUBILEE CYCLE UNTIL MESSIAH THE PRINCE.
With this in mind, consider the following inarguable facts:
On June 28th, 1967, following a nearly 2,000-year dispersion, the Israeli government issued an official “decree” recognizing Jerusalem as the restored capital of Israel.

If we count exactly “seven sevens” (17,640 days) forward from this decree date, we arrive at October 14th, 2015—the first day of the biblical calendar year, or “Jewish New Year.”
It’s important to note that, no matter how one does the math, the seven sevens do not point to the first day of ANY OTHER biblical new year—not the one occurring in 2016, 2017, 2018, or 2022.
Therefore, Daniel’s prophecy—the same prophecy that revealed to the magi the time of Jesus’ first coming—identifies the biblical year BEGINNING IN THE FALL OF 2015 as the year of Messiah the Prince.
This is the year, according to Isaac Newton, that will see “actions…of the HIGHEST NATURE for which a Jubilee can be kept.”
What are the “highest,” or ultimate, actions associated with the jubilee?
Prophetically speaking, the jubilee is the year of “redemption”—the time when captives are freed and prisoners released from darkness. Isaiah calls the jubilee the “acceptable year of the Lord” and links it to “the day of vengeance of our God” (Lev. 25: 24, 48; Isa. 61:1, 2; 63:4).
THIS is the reason we’re paying extra-close attention to the fall feasts this year.
Assuming our calendar is now calibrated with God’s (see article and video below), the year of jubilee is about to be declared with a trumpet blast in heaven.
Some want to call this “date setting,” but it’s more accurately described as “informed watching.” This is the same activity the magi, or wise men, engaged in, and the same activity Jesus calls on His wise virgins to engage in (1 Thess. 5:1-6).
And so we watch.
If nothing happens around the feasts this fall, it doesn’t mean that Daniel—or even Newton’s interpretation—is wrong; it simply means the Lord’s plans concerning the feast fulfillments are not yet in view, or may not match our preconceived notions.
This would not negate, however, the fact that we’re entering into a jubilee year—THE jubilee year!
So let us keep looking up, regardless, confident that our redemption draws nigh.
