More Weather Related Headaches

Today, we have minus 6 degrees Celcius. My dear husband is out in the cold working with the first day back to school schedule. Just 20 Km from here in Abbotsford with the windchill factor it is minus 21 Celcius. I can't see global warming for this reason.  Here on the west coast of B.C Canada we have enjoyed plus temperatures even in winter.. Rain yes, snow no. Yesterday, I had a slip and fall. Thank God I was able to stand back up on my feet very slowly. Other than my stretched muscles, I am fine. I suppose doing ballet in my younger years have paid off in my flexibility.
A bag of high quality salt from my daughters boyfriend has been the greatest gift we received all winter long. We will use it wisely, as this young man is cashing in on the plowing opportunity. More snow on the way at the end of the week. My dear cat Tiger, Moonshine's mother is safely warm in a make shift room under our porch. We have a manual mini heater in there for her, but if she is anything like me.. we are going nutty from staying indoors too much. Our muscles are atrophying. Travel is a mess on the roads, everything is a sheet of ice here in Surrey.  On top of that for at least half a day we had no television or telephone or internet usage yesterday. I was shocked how much I accomplished without the distraction of these modern comforts. I actually had a chance to communicate with my husband, sew, and write a letter. My young ones couldn't stand the silence and they went to a nearby cafe with internet, in the icy road conditions.
Today, I must go and send off a  sympathy card to Hungary. My moms friend who helped us immigrate to the West in 1970 has passed away on the 31st of December. She loved me more than my mom, I believe as she struggled for years for being the cause who changed my life forever. Stamping all four of our visas was something unusual in Hungary back in 1970. As a result she had to lay very low, and in fear of being held accountable for her action in the ministerium/government. She basically, lived in fear of prosecution for She even ventured to visit me about 5 years ago in Canada, just a superb lady. Intelligent, entrepreneurial, funny. I pray for her daughter and grandchildren that they will make the right decision about the upcoming days and years ahead. Sometimes we think our lives have little impact to those around us, yet in reality we are all interconnected and we do matter. If there is one thing I can encourage you in the new year is to realize that YOU MATTER, WE are INTERCONNECTED, AND GOD USES US.
As I reflect that my friend Etelka is with my daughter Deborah now, after both suffering immensely in their different ways, our only comfort is to know that we will all be together. Etelka Erdős's Profile Photo, Image may contain: 3 people
My Friend, and Confidant who I will miss.
