Police investigating possible murder-suicide in Calgary
Calgary's
homicide unit is investigating a possible murder-suicide after the
bodies of two people were discovered at a downtown Calgary apartment
building.
One man was found dead at the rear parking lot of the building in the 700 block of 1 Ave. SW after police were called around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Police determined the man lived in an apartment six or seven floors above.
Police later found the body of a woman inside that apartment building.
A young boy was also located in the apartment. Police said the child was not injured but taken to hospital as a precaution. He was then turned over to social services.
Duty Insp. Rob Williams said they are looking into whether the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.
"Well that could be a possibility. We do believe, as I said, that both parties knew each other at some point, or somehow," he said. "I can assure the public it isn't a serial killer that's gone around to this building and randomly killed people."
Autopsies are scheduled for Monday.
