I took a dear man to the emergency ward this day. He is an elderly person, with a big heart; but all alone. The emergency ward was full. He was not even 'triaged' by a nurse for over 2 hours after the ambulance took him in. There were over 6 people in the hallway, on beds and only the paramedics looked after them. I will visit him tomorrow, and I pray that he will have a bed by then in a quiet room. Like many people, he has chooses to stay alone and not remarry after he was widowed. Other than a few trusted friends he is alone. I reminded him that God is in control, and that I would be coming back to see him tomorrow. I came to realize even more how much we need each other. The firemen who came to his home were exceptional, and professional. They were calm, knowledgeable, helpful, and able to strike a connection immediately with my friend. My friend is not difficult to love. He is 82, and has so many experiences as a retired doctor to share, that one would not be bored for days; taking in his stories. I bought him a rosemary plant of which he loves the fragrance of. Apparently, large rosemary plants are widely used in gardens in tropical places, and the aroma is distinct but irreplaceable. Tomorrow is a new day, of hope, and hopefully healing for my friend. I told him that he will have so much socialization that he will be tired of all the stimulus
My family thankfully stepped in to assist in the home with the Japanese student, while I spent several hours in the hospital.
