Hawthorne Park Debate
My dear son-in-laws company was awarded the job to put through a road in Hawthorne park. The fences were put up yesterday, and the trees have started to fall today. The road will accommodate a light rail transit system that has long been in the works. The job has to be completed in six months before an election, so the pressure is on between the government and the so called 'tree-huggers" of which I am one. I love trees, and would love if there was some other way of solving the growing needs of our community. Apparently, more trees will be planted than was cut down, but sadly, they take many years to grow, to become the beautiful foliage the existing ones are today. It was interesting to see all the reports on this park on the evening news on several channels. I also heard that the reconstruction of the "patullo bridge" the one that my daughter jumped off from to her death should be the priority before the "LRT-light rail system, and other road developments go through.
