We Went to the Plant Sale

Yesterday, I and my husband went to a plant sale at Vandussen Gardens. We lined up over an hour, on a spring chilly day. The news media was there for this spectacular event. We were blessed to secure a plant cart unto which I piled plenty of 'pot luck ' plants from the discount tables. Everyone was raving about this pot luck area that we have not known about in our previous visits. So, in addition to many tomato plants, elderberry, and honeysuckle bushes, we also bought a dwarf , self fertilizing nectarine tree. This is our prize possession and it has to be kept in a pot on a sunny patio. I can hardly wait for the delicious fruit to pacify my children's appetite. Tomorrow, after my one daughter writes her Enclex exam to become a registered nurse, she offered to plant the rest of my miscellaneous shrubs, and trees and cactus's. First we have to write each plants name down, find out the details of where they grow best, and decide to plant in the yard or keep in pots, so they can take it with them when they move. We had purchased a chili dish, and I ended up swallowing a huge green hot pepper, thinking it was a shriveled mushroom. Was I ever surprised! I went back afterwards to get another bun from them and the man had pitty on me and gave me a free bottle of water. Prices were extra ordinary. One pie slice was $7.50 and an entire pie was $27.00 .
Our car was packed with plants which averaged $4.00 a piece. Afterwards we stopped for some potting soil at Home Depot. The soil was also 50% discounted. I don't know why, but I have great affection for animals, plants and nature in general. My work is cut out for me in the garden, though squatting is an almost impossible deed for me since my hip surgery. Spring has started late this year. The cherry blossoms on my street have only just now fully opened. May you all gain peace and a sense of accomplishments in your gardens, whether it is on a patio, or in your back yard.
