Well, it has stopped raining, the sun is out, and so is my back. Thankfully, I have buddied up with a family who also has a Japanese student, and today is their turn to take the girls shopping today, as well as sight seeing. Tomorrow will be my turn. Hopefully, my back will be in better shape. Yesterday, I was putting stainless steel wool in the kitchen cupboards, to stop the mice from coming into my friends house. He had just had a pacemaker put in, has a hearing aid and has not heard the mice move into his home with the vibrant cold weather we've been having. I used 3 large boxes of stainless steel wool, and some wood caulking, upon emphasizing my chore description yesterday, my family could not help but laugh. Getting up from the floor was the most challenging, fully attired with face mask, rubber globes and knee pads. When I told my hopefully future son in law, what I was doing.. laying treasures in heaven. Perhaps I'll need a younger hand to clean mice poop from cupboards. Then I was reminded why we don't have mice, and it is because we have 3 cats. One outdoor, and two indoor that somehow I lost the track of.
So today, I am flat on my back. I'd love to be in the garden, but I can't. My limitations are obvious to me, not so much to my family.
As my daughter will become pregnant at some point, it is a good reminder about a disease in cat pee that is dangerous for young mom's. I know a lady who miscarried several times, and had a tubal pregnancy as well, because of her 2 indoor cats. So here is what I learned:
Toxoplasmosis. Toxoplasmosis is a disease caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii, most commonly found in the waste of outdoor cats,
and is particularly dangerous for pregnant women. The parasite can
enter the body and cause serious damage to an unborn child, even causing
still birth or miscarriage.Jun 8, 2010
