Connections in First Responder Mental Health Conference
KPU Surrey - Conference Centre
February 23 & 24, 2017
The
KPU Criminology Department in collaboration with Badge of Life Canada
are pleased to offer a two-day conference
on the important topic of mental health and first responders. This
partnership is a tremendous opportunity to highlight the importance of
these topics to students, faculty, first responders, and the broader
community. This conference will feature speakers
with lived experiences from 911 communications, law enforcement,
firefighting, psychology, ambulance/paramedic service, corrections, and
police victim services. In addition, researchers and those providing
therapeutic and peer supports to first responders
will discuss current trends in the field.
This
information is critical for the great number of Kwantlen students who
will be entering professions where they
will be exposed to trauma on a regular basis. This event also provides a
venue for students, first responders, helpers, professionals, faculty,
and community to learn together and support one another.
