Cold Winter for Many

I am making some muffins today. I don't think I have done anything like it since before Deborah passed. However, because my husband likes it, and I had most of the ingredients out anyways, I have made four of these batches. Some with raisins, some without, but the batter has apple sauce instead of oil, and some added wheat germ as well. Since there are no more day old bakery in the stores, as they are donating it to the poor, I feel I have to get back into baking unless we want to pay a large sum for it.

Today I also got my new glasses with a compact fold-able case. I like the better vision I have with them, but I wonder if anyone will notice it on my face as being different. Well, nobody noticed my new glasses except my husband. I don't think they like it; makes my eyes look baggy was one response after my prying them for some feedback.
So here we are on a cold night again. Nothing like the migrants in Turkey, Istanbul being outdoors in -15 Celsius weather with a mere blanket around them lining up for food. The need is great throughout our world. People sleeping under bridges, needing blankets, and sleeping bags, and food. The medical attention would be a bonus nowhere to be found. Poverty is worldwide. When I think of spending hundreds of dollars on my glasses, I feel like the money could have gone to better use. My justification is that I had the old pair for more than 10 years.. and I have to see properly. I am providing heat for my outdoor cat in a small laundry room. I do want to load the car one day with socks, blankets, coats etc and help the homeless in our neighborhood.  I saw a video on how 2 people with a van stuffed with socks, coats, food etc, drove near an area in need. Then one left the car and introduced himself to a poor homeless person, and brought him to the car where he gave whatever he needed. The rest was history.. people with crutches, hungry, cold, but very gentle and kind people surrounded the back of his van, waiting patiently to have their immediate needs met.. They all left warmer, and with a bag of food/soap, socks, gloves, hats.. all the little essentials as well as hoodies, and sleeping bags etc. What a gesture of love I witnessed. These people were so thankful, to the two men, wishing their God Bless you 's on them. Truly, as the Bible says,.. it is more blessed to give than to receive. May we all be sensitive to the needs in our communities.
