The Lostness of Man, Part 2 of 2

Posted by Ravi Zacharias on June 13, 2015

Is humanity lost? When you watch the news and see a world full of evil, violence and sadness, it is easy to say yes. How did we get so lost and is there hope we will find out way back to the right path? Ravi Zacharias digs into the scriptures as he explains what it means to be lost as a society and the steps we took to get to this point. That’s this week on Let My People Think.

I was listening to Ravi on the radio coming home yesterday on 550 Kari . I couldn't help but note that he was a young man, age 17 on the verge of suicide when he was saved, and received the glorious light of Jesus Christ. He says in his radio broadcast that unlike other prophets,or religions where the aim is to make bad people good, Jesus came to make dead people live. When we acknowledge the "hideousness of sin", the envy, the murder, the deceit and malice, of how ruthless, and heartless man is. We are not just unethical, but lost and dead in sin. and when we recognize this, then one can offer the Saviour, who lifts the chains of our flesh. He says that hell is not a choice of God, but a choice of man, who wants to reject God.

This very same 30 minute broadcast speaks of the cosmetic industry as an escape from reality. Creams patch up cracks, and the promise of looking, smelling, and feeling younger by 10 years is a big deception.  He goes into the plastic surgeons role, how even when we narrow our nose and chin, and put a bushy head on our sparse crowns, we end up dying by cancer or a heart attack. Finally, it is the morticians cosmetic bag that tries to deny death, and we pay compliments as to how the individual who has passed looks just like himself or herself. (This is the one time, he or she does not look like themselves) The innocent forms of transfiguration and dis figuration are present to the very end of most lives.

I have never heard a speech like this one, no... never.
