This is a poem obviously by a non spiritual person, yet it has insight into the different friendships. One often wonders why this friendship is not going to be a lifetime friendship. I think we would love to all have lifetime friendships, but often it is not the case. As we age, our experiences vary, deepen, and not all of us grow at the same speed, or grow with the same influence around us. I think bad company disrupts good behavior; more precicely we read in the bible the following: Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” 33Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 34Sober up as you ought, and stop sinning; for some of you are ignorant of God. 1 corinthians 15. I often in my lifetime choose to be alone, instead of in the company of people who may 'corrupt' me. I think this is a form of wisdom God gave me. A self defense mechanism you may say. I would often say no, if my walk with God was going to be compromised as a result of a friendship. Solitude has often been my company. I am always open to new friendships, don't get me wrong; but can I really devote the time it requires? Maybe, maybe not. Our paths may only cross for a short time, yet I am grateful that it did. God has given us a free choice to live our lives, and ultimately, we are going to give account on how well we did. Love you all, Hang in there dear friends.
