The 'B 'Strain flu

We just got back from the library with my Japanese student.  She picked out some reading material from our beautiful contemporary building in City Center. I don't want to encourage her to be reading Japanese, but I do know that she has an entire weekend where we do very little. Even though, we have no snowstorms like the people in the east, the weather is gloomy and wet. I'm concerned that she has some tummy ailments, or it could be simply illness from a naproxin like medication that she is taking from Japan. Perhaps she was never told of the side effects of the drug.  She does not realize that it can cause bleeding of the stomach. Such foolishness, at her age. Even if we have instructed them wisely, the information has not gelled in her head; for instance that any bottled drinks are not good for us. I hope her condition is not worse, like anorexia/bulimia or the like.
Today, I got notification that I get a $200 coupon towards a restaurant/trip of my choice because I have home-stayed in the past year. This recognition is imperative since I wanted to close my doors a long time ago, and not put up with the work that is entailed, including the inconveniences caused for my family. For instance rides and pick up times to her school coincides when my husband needs the car for work. So life goes on, and we want to leave an imprint of faith, and goodwill towards a nation that is mostly ungodly. I hope our gestures of love and kindness eventually will bring them to Christ.

I just got a phone call from a dear friend. She says that the 'B' Strain flu is going around. This is really nasty. It involves bloody stools, and can be extremely dangerous. It comes from the southern hemisphere, Australia. She spent New Years Eve in the hospital, and now both her and her husband are slowly recovering in their home.  May God help us in our weaknesses, and restore us strongly to face the New Year, boldly. May we have confidence as we boldly ask God for His favour and healing for all those who are ill this season. Please pray for all the shut-in's, the aged and the homeless.
