Suspicious Death in North Vancouver A Suicide, Police Confirm
North Vancouver RCMP have confirmed that a man found dead
last Wednesday on Rondoval Crescent near Prospect Road died from a
self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Earlier post:
Cpl. Richard De Jong said a man’s body was found beside a
burning vehicle sometime after 10:30 p.m. Neighbours reported hearing a
loud explosion and looked out to see a black sedan in flames.
According to scanner reports at the time, the dead man had a gunshot wound to the head, but De Jong wouldn’t confirm that.
He said it has not been determined if the dead man was
murdered or whether he may have taken his own life. More information is
expected Friday.
I have heard he is from North Delta and may have been suffering from depression. But nothing has been confirmed.
And you can’t ignore the fact there have been several shooting deaths across the region in recent weeks.
In the first month of 2012, the Integrated Homicide
Investigation Team and Vancouver Police were called out to six new
murder files, compared to just one in the same period last year.
While police wouldn’t confirm the gunshot report, De Jong
said to me that even if someone had been shot in the head, it could
still have been a suicide. I asked him if that was confirmation of the
shooting and he said it wasn’t.
They haven’t called in IHIT, but are consulting them.
