The release of the vaccine saw Bancel’s net worth skyrocket from $657m to $5.04bn. When Bancel spoke, health authorities listened. As Bancel profited, people died. Unlike Vice Adm. Crandall, Master Chief Earl uttered no humorous invectives at Bancel. He simply asked him whether he wanted Last Rites—Bancel spat at the suggestion—and ordered the hangman to fulfill his duty.
