Student Takes his life on OU Campus

Hyderabad

Student commits suicide on OU campus

A student’s inability, allegedly, to cope with curriculum drove him to commit suicide by hanging in his hostel on Osmania University Campus on Sunday.
E Murali (21), a first-year student of MSc Physics in the university’s science college, who hails from Doulapur village of Jagdevpur mandal in Siddipet district, close to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's farm house, took the extreme step leaving behind a suicide note.
The incident plunged the entire student community into deep shock as the day coincided with the eighth death anniversary of K. Srikanth Chary, who committed suicide for the cause of separate Telangana.
A few thousand students literally broke into tears and anger after hearing the sad news. A wild protest sparked-off instantaneously in front of Maneru hostel where the dead body was still hanging. The crowd held the government responsible for the incident.
The student unions prevented the shifting of the dead body to hospital for post-mortem for hours after death.
A ‘suicide note’ which was stuffed in the pocket of Murali’s shirt stated that he did not want to fail in exams and that he had never failed in exams.
“Exams are fast approaching and I am scared to face them, my mother. I am unable deal with the curriculum and i am stressed out my mother, so I decided to leave this world. Brother please take care of our mother and never leave her alone,”.
He further asked his brother not to tell their mother that he committed suicide. “I want to take rest in peace and I am really happy with my death,” the note stated.
On Sunday after his lunch around 2.30 p.m. one of hostel inmates went to relieve himself at the bathrooms located on a corner in the first floor. When the student tried to enter the bathroom, he could not open it completely and peeped only to find Murali hanging to a hook to the wall. He had tied two shoe laces to serve as the noose.
