Dear Mr. Lee
Thank you for your Letter. I do appreciate your feedback. I think what is mostly unconsidered is the vast distances in the Vancouver/Surrey Regions, and these trains are pathetically slow as well. Maybe go with some more modern transportation ideas, like they do in Japan. This is quiet ridiculous that this monopoly is now going all across Canada.. 'Rapid Transit" almost as slow as streetcars.. I think we, South of the Fraser, need to be more creative than the folks in Vancouver.. If we can't get what they have... at least do better.
I believe our current governments will be replaced based on their poor decisions.Thank you for your Letter. I do appreciate your feedback. Dear Maria and Ron Gordon:
Thank you for your thoughtful comments regarding light rail transit (LRT) in Surrey.
LRT
is a proven technology used throughout the world and in cities with
severe winter conditions, including new projects on the go in Ottawa,
Toronto,
Mississauga, Hamilton, Waterloo, Edmonton and Calgary. Across North
America and around the world, LRT is increasingly being used to make
rapid transit part of the community fabric with more accessible,
street-level stops that are safely integrated with urban
streets and neighbourhoods. Please see our Project pages for
information on LRT across Canada
http://www.surrey.ca/city- services/18729.aspx
In
Surrey, it will bring together mobility and affordability, and will be
designed to integrate safely into the communities it serves. The Surrey
LRT project will be the largest infrastructure project ever in our
city. It will spark development, bring jobs, and provide reliable,
frequent and accessible rapid transit to our growing communities.
Surrey
LRT will have its own dedicated, protected lanes in the middle of the
roadway, separate from mixed traffic. It will have signal priority
fully integrated with intersection
signals for vehicular traffic, so that everything operates as a
complete system. High-quality, reliable surface-level LRT will get
riders to their destinations 10 minutes faster than the current 96
B-Line during rush hours, and the travel time savings will
increase significantly as congestion increases in the future. Surrey's
vision is that surface-level LRT will help make Surrey streets
comfortable for everyone--whether they are walking, cycling, taking
transit or driving.
We
want to thank you again for reaching out to the City on this very
important project. There will be upcoming consultation opportunities in
2017
where more detailed information will be presented. We hope that you
will keep up to date on the project and participate in those
opportunities to share your input. Meanwhile, if you have further
comments or questions regarding LRT, please do not hesitate
to contact me at the contact information below.
Best regards,
Paul Lee
