Visit from a Japanese Student

I have not been inclined to write much, as I am still struggling to get better. I am awaiting hip surgery on one side  at the end of November, and I just broke a small bone in my foot on the other side. I cannot weight bear on the side of the broken foot for at least another week. They suggested I use crutches, but because my other side is not very stable either, I opted to skip the crutches in the hopes of no more broken bones or falls. I often think I am too young for this, but overall I had few broken bones in my life time. Just a clavicle in my twenties. The lesson in all of this is DO NOT try to walk on a foot that is numb or sleepy. That was my bad decision. The air cast is not much good if you can't walk with it, so instead I have been walking on my heel.
To make things even more interesting, I have a former Japanese student visit me. Her trip first took her to New York with girlfriends, and she alone choose to stop in Vancouver for 3 days to visit us. It is a great honor. I have not expected these homestay connections to last, as many of the children were younger in age whom I homestayed over the many years. I look forward to catching up with Hiromi. She is arriving at the airport around 6 pm tonight. I made her some pea soup with smoked turkey legs/wings. She apparently does not like rice, so I have to get creative. When she saw us last, Deborah was still with us. I'm not sure if she will want to go to the grave site. I will leave it up to her what we do for the next couple of days. We made the bedroom ready for her, with freshly washed sheets, and if I feel up to it, I will give her a ride to the airport on her departure date.
The crowing issue is that I have a troublesome tooth. I am on penicillin for the pain. I believe it needs a root canal to say the least. My dentist just told me to double up on the pills as the pain is a 9 when my tongue touches the tooth. I feel discouraged, and limited with all these aches and pains, but we must not give up our hope despite these circumstances. God is still on His throne, and Jesus is coming back soon.
