Friends and Potatoes

I So much enjoy talking to my friend Joy who moved away to the interior about two years ago. I love hearing her voice. I love hearing her speak so affectionately about her grand-daughters who live there. My friend is a little older than I an have similar aches and pains that come with deteriorating joint pains. Her excercise she tells me is to go up and down her stairs about twenty times a day. Her time is consumed by watching the grand children while the parents work, or need time to recover from their exhaustion. She too is awaiting for surgery , even as I am.. I was sharing with her our indecisiveness with our future plans, weather to sell or keep our home. I shared with her that one option is to move right into a complex where you initially buy a condo, then as you need gradual assisted care, you can stay right where you are, and the facility steps in with any, or all the help you need. It is a nice Dutch community, with everything on site, from a movie theater, to games rooms to church, to hair salon, to dining rooms. There is of course a long wait list for such a place, almost a two year wait, but I keep pondering on the simplicity of it all. We would only have one more move to do in our lifetime.  A move that is manageable while we are still younger, and the care would be readily available if we need it. The place is called Elim, and I"m sure that other places are modeled after this community. We don't know how much longer the market will be 'hot', as China is slowing down, thus putting the whole world into possible depression.
Right now, it is snowing in Kelowna, cloudy in Vancouver, and Sunny and hot in Florida.  My mom has been re admitted to the hospital with a broken bone in her spine. She has been falling regularly since I returned from visiting her. I pray that the doctors can 'glue' her spine back. More importantly, she needs the Lord Jesus to heal her spirit and soul, before she is unaware of her surroundings.

Since it has been sunny today, my husband helped me set up the vertical potato box. We placed rocks on the bottom, along with sand, mulch, compost, and soil. I placed many rooting potatoes in it, and I am hoping for an amazing result.. It is  a form of vertical planting. One thing is does not show is that as soon as you see the plant come through, add more soil on top till almost fully covered. and so on and so on.. till you reach the top. When potatoe stems dry out.. leave for a few more days, and then harvest by taking one of the sides of the construction off.. Here is a video.
