Human nature never ceases to amaze me. Not only are we genetically, so similar to our parents;, appearance, characteristics, habits, obsessions; but through our habitual actions as well. What I mean by that, is how we frequently, repeat behavior that has backfired on us before.. We have not learned from our mistakes, nor do we think of how we may hurt others in the process.
As I look at the innocence of children, including a glimpse into adult innocence, as I see my married daughter hug and sleep with Deborah's cat for instance, I am moved. These moments of singings a song, or smiling at someone, or going above and beyond duty to assist an elderly couple, all speak volumes.
One of the behaviors that keep coming up is offense. People even get offended if one word in a text message for instance does not appear to have the 'right tone'. Please help me out here, because I do not text, but really?? Or a word in a letter is off to them. Have we become so shallow that for the sake of being right.. in our assumptions, we throw out the baby with the bath water? We are flawed people and because love is not being manifested, we isolate ourselves, and pretend to believe that it is normal.. People are entitled to not having any of their feathers ruffled. They are so privy to their comfortable way of life. No housework, no charity or volunteer work, no physical labour, no seeking out things that would benefit others rather than yourself, only vanity and vexation of spirit, like Solomon has quoted.
You cannot approach people to please ask to turn off their car alarm that has kept them up for hours on end; even offering to help them disconnect the wires, without being handcuffed by police and rough you up.. You have to be so politically correct, that one can start vomiting at trying to obtain that perfection.. Sadly, this is what causes many suicides, as we know for a fact. This idea, that we are, or one day will be PERFECT. Our dishes have to be just right, with the right colors, textures, and varieties. It cannot be cooked or prepared in any other way than how we are used to, or the roof will blow off your house..
I had one experience when I cooked lasagna for a friend. The pre=cooked lasagna noodles were not available, so the regular pasta was purchased.. When I assembled the dish, ready to be put in the oven, with the mixture of ricotta cheese with spinach, and tomato sauce, I was asked to dis assemble the ingredients, and cook the noodles first.. I mentioned to this friend that she was obsessive compulsive about her cooking style, and I was not going to separate these already prepared pans for her liking.. You would not believe what happened. She started to do exorcism on me by praying against the evil spirits that had me say that she was OCD.
We all want perfect teachers, children, students, cars, appliances, friends, parents, and a good life.. a wonderful life!!!
Well, the fact is we have imperfect everything, including ourselves.. Children want to boss their parents, and caregivers, and teachers. Children who should be helping, are playing on their telephones, computers, and iPads, they never learned what work or hard studying is.. They too became entitled like many parents are; who came by money through an inheritance or a brutal divorce. Parents become delusional as to how successful their little treasure will be when they grow up. One such illustration is that of a 12 year old would say to his domestic worker that her mom does not approve of texting while she is there. This boy did not take into account that the laundry has been done, and folded, dinner was prepared, and the dishes were washed among other things. The child has no idea of the effort, and work put forth into a single meal,(not even the parent) never mind keeping a house clean on top of that..and becomes a little spy in his own home. Our society does not want the work associated with raising children, law abiding contributing citizens, and then when we are old, we are surprised that we have no body to open a door on us, or bring us a glass of water. We love entertainment.. daily entertainment, and comfort. Women would rather pay a nanny, and go work full time, than stay home with their highly impressionable toddler.
Well I have a feeling that things will be changing very quickly, and those folks who never liked beans before will have to eat it.. because there will be nothing else. People will also need to depend and love one another for sheer survival. I still believe that God places and removes people from our lives, at His discretion. My one question,, will always be however, is if we can't value and appreciate each other here, do we really believe that God will have a separate place for us in Heaven?
