Today a news report caught my attention. It was Dawna Friesen reporting on the global national on April1st. At the 9:23 it speaks about the long term treatment necessary for those who have attempted their first suicide, involving an overdose or poison. The statistics found that 50% died within 1.5 years, and 25% died 4 years later. Mark Henick from Toronto who has survived several suicide attempts, is now a mental health advocate in Toronto. The main point of the findings is that suicide prevention has to be a pro longed process with much follow up in the months and years to come. Otherwise we will loose many young people from amongst us.
