Tobelmore Chocolate with Deborah

Reflecting on the Dash 1960--------

For some reason, I omitted posting this, and found it in Draft Format today..
Today, I went to visit Deborah's grave side. The reef I had purchased is placed on her grave. The distance between the living and those who are asleep seems insurmountable. As I pack for my surgery, I am reminded that it is just a second away. The distance between life and death. I must put my faith totally in God to come through the major surgery I am getting of all days. Black Friday. Thankfully, it is also the first day of Hanukah. I had giggled to myself earlier that I must tell the doctor to pretend it is a Monday, and not a Friday. You all probably know that cars made on a Friday, usually are problematic, and I'm sure it is the same with surgeries. Peoples minds are on the weekend, and travel, not on the patient. I remember my dad always joking on how a doctor reported to a family member , that " the surgery went well, but the Patient did not make it."ha ha.. Rest assured, I will not miss being here, if something does not go well.
I heard coming home that there was another police incident on a bridge, here in Vancouver. What can we do as individuals to deal with all this sorrow, addiction, and mental health issues. How can we help the homeless, those living in substandard conditions? How can we give folks meaningful work? Do we rely too much on our government to do these things for us? Has the church lived up to helping the poor, and disabled, or have they placed the responsibility on the government? These are good questions, and just like the second previous video illustrated with the judge speaking;, truly it is up to us if we want to make a difference. Prince charming, or a great politician will not solve all the problems.

In the hustle of Christmas around the corner, and getting ready for this surgery, we get so focused on ourselves. My hair is dyed, there are frozen meals in the freezer, and the plants are in from the cold. The house is relatively clean. My bag is packed for the hospital, but can we truly every be ready? When we stand before our Maker, can He tell us, 'Well done thou Good and Faithful Servant"? Was the dash between the year we were born to the day we die, has that dash been meaningful, and pleasing to God.. What we did in the time between the two dates?

Something to Look Forward To

Dear Friends,
My daughter just came home from Deborah's grave, after placing a reef on her plot. We got the reefs at a Christmas Bazaar yesterday. I bought two. One has a sweet Angel on top of it. I will alternate it in the future, with the Christmas reef that we put out today. Apparently, some graves have fresh flowers on it, still. We missed the pot luck yesterday at the funeral home. We were too tired after visiting 3 Church Events. I basically got the Christmas presents at these craft and white elephant sales. I dragged my husband along, much to his dismay. I got my little newspaper cart, so I would not have to carry anything. I was in so much pain with my hips. We were looking for things on my daughters Christmas lists, from small refrigerators to plate sets, to knife sets, Michael Kors bags to acne repellent. Most things were brand new prepared by entrepreneurs, and some things were old, but still in their original boxes.There were very creative knitting made, and baby items, from necklace teething rings that were washable. Not something you saw, when I was a young mother. My husband almost bought a 1960 angel for top of the tree, a collectible. I bought all my baking there, made by sweet United church ladies, from biscotti to ginger cookies dipped in white chocolate, to candy cane sugar cookies to name a few. I found my plum jams, for very reasonable price.

When I came home I put all the cookies in a tin can, and wrapped all the girls presents. Aside from a few gift cards, my preparation is done for the year. This was my last weekend available before my surgery. Another Christmas without Deborah is too much to bear. I will not be decorating inside my home, but have suggested that the family goes to see the performance at the Willingdon Church, in Burnaby again. This is one of our traditions, and also a great way to introduce someone to the gospel. Though I will not be in attendance, I hope that it will be a blessing to those who my girls will invite.

About the Opioid Conference

The growing number of overdoses and deaths caused by opioids, including fentanyl, is a national concern. Solutions must be compassionate and collaborative, and address both the immediate crisis of overdose and death as well as their root causes. The Government of Canada is committed to showing federal leadership and working with partners across Canada to address this important issue.
To this end, the Honourable Jane Philpott, Federal Minister of Health, will be co-hosting the Opioid Conference with the Honourable Eric Hoskins, Ontario Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. The Opioid Conference will bring together a broad range of speakers and participants for a national dialogue on actions to address and reduce the harms related to opioids in Canada.
The conference will be followed by the Opioid Summit on November 19, 2016. The summit will bring together individuals and organizations that have the authorities and commitment to take action to combat the opioid crisis. The desired outcome of the summit is a Joint Statement of Action to Address the Opioid Crisis with a prioritized set of actions and a commitment to public reporting.

Illicit drug deaths continue to climb in British Columbia, even after the province declared a public health emergency in April.
Numbers released today by the B.C. Coroners Service show that through the first 10 months of the year, 622 people have died from overdose, compared to 397 in 2015.
The coroners service recorded 63 drug-related deaths in October, up from 57 in September. In about 60 per cent of the cases, the victims had traces of fentanyl in their systems.
"The number of deaths in October was 63, which is about two a day, which is too, too many," said Barb McLintock, the spokeswoman for the B.C. Coroner's Service.
"Since this became a public health emergency back in April, we have tried to keep our numbers updated just so we can see how it is trending."

Numbers still rising

With the number of deaths still rising, the coroners service is continuing to stress the importance of harm-reduction. That includes a reminder not to use alone and having naloxone present and readily available.
The provincial government has increased the availability of naloxone, a drug that can help prevent overdose deaths, since declaring a provincial health emergency.
"We still think that if it hadn't been for all the actions that have been taken, particularly the increase in the availability of naloxone, the numbers would be even higher yet, which is even more discouraging," said McLintock.

B.C. officials in Ottawa

Premier Christy Clark and Health Minister Terry Lake are set to meet with federal Health Minister Jane Philpott on Thursday.
Lake says B.C. will be pressing the federal government to remove Bill C2, The Respect for Communities Act, which creates restrictions on establishing supervised consumption sites.
British Columbia also wants to see an increase of RCMP resources in the province Lake says in currently lacking.

Canada has also not conducted any high-level diplomatic conversations with countries like China to curb the flow of drugs such as fentanyl into Canada.
"If you look at the numbers here in British Columbia, 622 British Columbians died from illicit drug overdoses this year," said Lake.
"If that were to be translated into the population of Ontario, that would be on the order of 1,865 deaths and I think if that were happening in Ontario the government in Ottawa would be quicker to do the kind of things that need to be done."

NDP says more needs to be done

The B.C. NDP doesn't think all the solutions will be found at the federal level.
Public Safety critic Mike Farnworth introduced legislation in the spring that would put restrictions on the shipment of pill presses in British Columbia.

The RCMP believes this pill press, found in a March police raid of a fentanyl lab, was covered with powdered fentanyl. (RCMP)

The machines are used legally by pharmacists but are often also used to produce pills embedded with fentanyl and sold illegally.
"If the house was back we could pass the bill in a day. Instead, we have the premier saying, we want Ottawa to do it. That's not good enough," said Farnworth. "Alberta has been able to bring in legislation. They did it ages ago."
The provincial government says it is looking at federal restrictions on pill presses, because it would be more effective than every province having different rules.

UPDATE 11/17/16 -- I have good news: Petr Jasek is still alive! But the fight for his life is not over...

Petr’s trial last Monday was cut short and has been suspended until this Monday. Help us use the next few days to pressure the Sudanese government to release him. We succeeded in getting Meriam Ibrahim released, and now we must also succeed with Petr.
One of Petr’s missionary friends from the Czech republic, Thomas Zdechovský, recently informed us, “In recent days his (Petr’s) condition deteriorated." Zdechovský went on to describe how "(Petr) is in terrible physical and mental condition. . . . And there all are afraid that the execution will proceed, because in Sudan human life means nothing.”
The media is largely ignoring this terrible situation. It is up to us to bring attention to Petr’s case.
If we don’t act now, Petr could be sentenced to death or forced to stay in deteriorating conditions where his life is at risk. Please join us now by signing and sharing this urgent petition.
Petr’s family has been in touch with us to tell us that they deeply appreciate what we are doing. They are counting on us to continue to work in his defense!

Petr Jašek, a Czech humanitarian worker and missionary, went to Sudan to help Christians who were being persecuted for their faith. Not long after, he became the persecuted Christian. He has been unjustly imprisoned in Sudan for a year. Now, he is on trial and faces the death penalty.

Please sign this urgent petition demanding Petr Jašek’s liberation.

In November 2015, Petr Jašek learned about the difficult fate of Sudanese student Ali Omer. At a rally in 2013, Omer suffered severe burns. That December, Jašek went to Sudan to contribute financially to Ali's treatment and to help other suffering Christians.

Just before he planned to fly back home to the Czech Republic, on December 10, 2015, members of the Sudanese secret service in Khartoum took Jašek into custody. For weeks, nobody heard from him, and his family did not even know if he was still alive. A Sudanese prosecutor subsequently charged Jašek with several crimes. The accusations against him resemble a totalitarian regime: espionage, sedition, subversion of the Republic...

Along with Jasek, three other Sudanese men also face judgement.

The entire process is clearly political; the charges against these men are meant to deter all the regime’s critics. Jašek is the first European who faces such a penalty in Sudan. His imprisonment gives us an opportunity to speak out loudly and collectively against the unjust persecution and imprisonment of all Christians in Sudan.

The Czech government sought an exemption for Jašek, but they had no success. A month ago, the European Union issued a request for the immediate release of their citizens. This petition, therefore, is addressed to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Ambassador of Sudan, the special envoy for religious freedom, and other diplomats.

Jašek’s defense claims that the prosecution has no evidence against him, but that the prospect of a fair trial is not optimistic. Sudan is a country ruled by a war criminal... President Omar al-Bashir has been indicted for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes by the International Criminal Court. Furthermore, the Sudanese government is grounded in Sharia law. The simple fact that Jašek is a committed Christian has undeniably aggravated the situation.

But all hope is not lost! Two years ago, with your help, Meriam Ibrahim (a Sudanese Christian woman who had been sentenced to death) was liberated! Political efforts, supported by civic engagement, ensured her freedom.

Now, I must ask you to get involved in this case as well. Please join us in demanding the immediate release of Petr Jašek and other Christians from Sudanese prison!

I personally pray that Petr will be at home in time for Christmas with his family. If you can also pray for his safe return to his homeland, I'm sure he would be grateful. As he mentioned in one of his letters from prison: "God has the keys to my cell."

My Pre-Op Visit

Yesterday was my longest day in a long time. I had two appointments in preparation for my upcoming surgery in the downtown core.I took the sky train there, and then the B-Line bus. Crossing the Fraser River, with the Patullo bridge in full view, and the shores upon which my daughter was found was to much for me. I quickly turned my head and took a deep breath.
To my surprise, the B-line wasn't so fast after all, so I made it in, 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment. I wobbled there, had some blood work, and met with the anesthesiologist. They had too many questions and recommended that I have a spinal freezing for my hip surgery. I told them I'll think about it, but already knew that a spinal freeze to me , something that I never had in my life is more scarier than being knocked out for the entire procedure. So come next Friday, I will decide which one I want. There are pros and cons to both of course. They reviewed all my pills, and went through several booklets that I was to remember for the day before and the day of surgery.
Later in the afternoon, I sat for another 2 hours when a nurse described and showed films of the appliances they will put inside us., whether a hip or knee surgery. She also described all the equipment we will have to get from the red cross, and the pamphlet which I did not pick up , as to how soon we can have sex after our surgeries.I told the nurse that I do not have the upper body strength to be sliding my body along a board to get into the tub. I plan to go to a swimming pool shower to wash in the first few weeks if I can't get into my tub. I think nature will take care of what it needs to. Frankly, I personally would not mind if I remained on the operating table.

If I do wake up, I will not be a zealous patient to recover. Life is not so exciting when you get to be my age. The drudgery of life weighs one down. I feel that those things that I loved to do, such as hospitality, I no longer enjoy. Most people are an island, and with the exception of 2 families, we have pretty well been left to carry on alone. I met two ladies at the Pattison Building who commuted from Salmon Arm and Abbotsford respectively. They were even staying in a hotel for the night, to break down the arduous day of specialists appointments. I had a spinach cake and coffee with them. I was greateful, that my journey to the city wasn't as long as theirs.
In rush hour I came home on the trains and buses. I have not been on a bus for some time, and there were all kinds of people imaginable, squished like sardines. Thankfully a man offered me his seat in the wheelchair seat sections. After a long hard day of work he was such a gentleman that he did that. I shared with him of my upcoming hip surgery, and rewarded him with his old seat, once I could slide over to yet another empty seat. Very few men are gentleman in our world.. I'm afraid. Something went amiss, either their moms weren't there for them or it is simply the last generation, and we are all on the same plane of indifference. Indifference is the opposite of love by the way.. It isnt hate, it is a society of indifference.

Yet another pot bless dinner is occuring at the funeral home. I asked to have our names put down for 2 people, but I'm strongly sensing that we will not be going.

One can say that Soros and Goldman Sachs are ideologically part of the same brotherhood. Their strategy is a little different, but the end result is the destruction of lives via the economic system (be it capitalism or socialism) and political manipulation.

That’s why Soros seems to think that he is invincible. He thinks he can move the political and economic planet in a few blinks of an eye and no one can tell him to stop. In fact, he writes books such as The Alchemy of Finance. Soros thinks he can kill political stability throughout Europe and indeed in America with no challenge.

Soros is certainly old, but he doesn’t want to be obsolete. His organization has recently been caught conducting covert operations designed to destabilize Russia. Here is an interesting quote from the leaked files of Soros’ Open Society Foundation:

“Our inclination is to engage in activities and with actors that will understand and counter Russian support to movements defending traditional values…Naming and shaming from us is problematic: we are also in the business of channeling money into other countries for political purposes.”

The Antarctica Ban and the Flat Earth Motive

MrCati, thank you for this research.. I agee on your theory for the following reasons. 8 months ago I saw a very interesting Flat Earth story on youtube, posted bij Eric Dubay. I always knew NASA is BS. Flat earth to me seemed unreal but the points made by Eric Dubay are so strong and answered a lot of questions i always had but never researched. Another reason why i believe it to be true is when i asked my young brother about flat earth, he just returned from the US cause he got his pilot license there, he looked at me whit a bit of a scarry look and told me to stay away from flat earth. When i asked him why, all he said was Sister, stay away from there. He knows and because he is still young he must be scared and confussed. My Friend's Birthday

I had an interesting night yesterday. I was invited by my friends now adult daughter to her moms 65th birthday. I have known her for 35 years, and we lived on the same street, before I ever had a family. In fact she lived near Len Shepherd School, and I was renting a ground level street on the same remote street. Her two daughters from California, and Ontario organized the catered dinner. The little girl who rode on her fathers bicycles back seat now has the sweetest daughter herself. Happily married and a devoted mother herself. She considers her daughter a miracle baby, and the passion that is in their lives radiates. I loved the fact that she wears dresses. I have not seen her in slacks. (So much for Hillary's paint suits- I still remember..) Her sister also is doing well, having purchased a home in Ontario, and is a music pastor in a church of 500 people. A girl with an angelic voice.
I had some very interesting short conversations with the son-in-law, and my friends son. I wanted to know their view on immigration. The highly intelligent son-in law who himself has been waiting 9 years to get a green card in the USA, told me that he has been waiting to become an American for 9 years. His work has landed him in California, therefore his work is sponsored him. He felt that it would not be fair for a migrant to get full citizenship immediately upon entering a country. Though he has liberal sentiments, he feels that policy is the most important thing in government not immigration per say. However, in his views people entering should come via a church sponsorship, a work sponsorship, or as a student..per say. I asked him to write a letter to President Elect Trump.

So getting back to the dinner. Unbeknown to me, it was also for men, not just her girlfriends. So upon meeting everyone, mostly sweet Dutch folks, I called my husband to join me for the catered meal. On my second call, he conceded, and walked across the street to Bear Creek Park Pavilion.We also met a lovely family who has been great friends with Liz. We talked about many things, including grown children, downsizing, and friendships, in the midst of me particularly enjoying the white chilled wine. One lady gave me her only Poppy. She was the only one still wearing one.

The highlight of the evening aside from seeing the next generation of my friends family was seeing Deborah's piano teacher, Ms. Koistra. A gem of a lady, whose crosses in life have been so plentiful as well. She complimented me that I look so much better than on the day of Deborah's funeral. I think she was just being nice. She acknowledged our great loss, and tried to encourage me with my upcoming surgery that she also went through 2 yrs ago. I also hope I encouraged her with the verse from Gen 6:3. Wycliffe translation.And God said, My spirit shall not dwell in man without end, for he is flesh; and the days of him shall be an hundred and twenty years.

In the light of the fact that President Elect Trump and President Putin have been asked to build the Third Temple in Jerusalem, by the Sanhedrin. Therefore, preparations are quickly made for yet a Third Temple, so when the Bride Leaves there will be a Temple Present here in Jerusalem, as the Law again is going to be in place. I encouraged Ms. Koistra as she too is tired of Christmas and just the whole gamet of life that is taxing on the Spirit. Our home is not here, but in the presence of our Dear Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This Jubilee ends on Yom Kippur of 2017. By then the Temple in Jerusalem should be built, so the Bride can leave.
